Have a Lot Going On this Season!

  • MWRA Reel Fun Fishing Day – (not actually on the beach – but a great event) Nut Island, Quincy: Saturday - June 21 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Among other things, you will earn how to fish for and identify striped bass and winter flounder with the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries and the Mass Wildlife Angler Education Program (rods, bait, and tackle provided) (The event is totally free – but to get further information and sign up for tickets go to: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/reel-fun-fishing-day-at-nut-island-tickets-1369101642869)

  • Wollaston Yacht Club – Open House – Come check out the Club, and spend some time at the Market run by White Pine Market Saturday, June 21 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Wollaston Yacht Club.

  • Peace Play on the Beach - hosted in collaboration with the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute - Saturday, June 21 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm - Wollaston Beach

  • Art on the Beach – Come Paint in Plein Air with the Quincy Art Association. Watch the pros demo and get some one-on-one pointers!  Sunday, June 22 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm between the Squantum and Wollaston Yacht Clubs with plein air artist Maureen Vezina. Plein Air painters are welcome for the demo and one-on-one guidance as you create your own beach scene. Bring your own materials, supplies, etc. Please go to www.quincyartma.org for more information.

  • Storytime on the Beach - Tot Lot - Quincy Shore Drive and E. Elm - July 14 and August 11 at 10:00 am. Ms. Dorothy and her team at Thomas Crane Public Library will wow the audience of 2-6 year olds with stories, games and dancing. In case of inclement weather, we will move to the North Quincy branch of the Library.

  • Concerts on the Beach - Back by Popular Demand - the Quincy Chamber of Commerce and Save the Harbor/Save the Bay are bringing concerts back to Wollaston Beach. They will take place every Wednesday in July and August starting July 9 (July 16, 23 and 30, August 6, 13, 20 and 27). Location - Quincy Shore Drive between the Tot Lot and Tony’s. Since the plovers may still be nesting in July, the location may have to be adjusted.

  • Kids' Fest - 2025 - Sunday, August 17 - 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm - Games, bubble barge,DJ and dancing, splash pad; face painting, bubbles, coloring books, photo booth, sand art, kites, and so much more...

  • Kite Festival - Kite Krafting, History and Storytime Korner - Sunday, September 7, 2025 - 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Coming Events - Date to be Determined

  • COASTSWEEP - Worldwide Cleanup collecting marine debris, trash, fishing line and other human-made items. Includes categorizing and tallying what is found. If you do only one cleanup a year - this should be it! Will be held in mid September.

  • Christmas Toy Drive - early December - to benefit Interfaith Social Services.

Join Friends of Wollaston Beach at Shamrock Splash - Sunday, March 10 at 11:30 am Constitution Beach, East Boston

The Shamrock Splash is the premier fundraiser for Save the Harbor/Save the Bay (SH/SB), the region’s leading voice for clean water and continued public investment in Boston Harbor, the region’s public beaches, including Wollaston Beach, and the Boston Harbor Islands,

The funds raised through the Shamrock Splash (http://shamrocksplash.org) allow us to provide FREE ocean-themed activities for kids of all ages including KidsFest, Movies, Story Time, Books, Coastal and Wastewater Education and so much more! 

Support Friends of Wollaston Beach by:

Coastsweep 2023

Capping off the currently-planned events is FWB’s annual participation in Coastsweep - Saturday, September 16 from 10:00 am to noon on Wollaston Beach near the yacht clubs. COASTSWEEP Massachusetts was formed in 1987. COASTSWEEP participants join hundreds of thousands of other volunteers in the world’s largest volunteer effort for the ocean — Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup — collecting trash, fishing line and other marine debris, and recording data on what they find. This data is used to find solutions for keeping trash out of the ocean

Yoga on the Beach

Yoga on the Beach with Lori Scott will be held on Sunday, July 16 at 8:00 am at the north end of Wollaston Beach. While all FWB programs are free and open to the public, space is limited for yoga, so reservations are required by emailing Lori at loriscottyoga@gmail.com.

FWB Meeting - DCR Shorebird Protection

The Friends of Wollaston Beach (FWB) will kick off the season with a meeting on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the Wollaston Yacht Club, 692 Quincy Shore Drive from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The speaker, DCR's Shorebird Protection Program Coordinator, will discuss DCR’s efforts to protect the plover population on Wollaston Beach, and shorebirds in general. Light refreshments will be served.

DICK HERBERT HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE 2022

Friends of Wollaston Beach invites members and the general public to stop by and drop off new, unwrapped toys to be distributed to needy children through Interfaith Social Services. Not sure what to buy? Gift cards and monetary donations are a perfect alternative and would be greatly appreciated! Gift cards and checks can be dropped off at the Open House (or at Interfaith, 105 Adams Street, Quincy). Checks should be made payable to Interfaith Social Services with Friends of Wollaston Beach in the memo section. Enjoy a slice of pizza and engage in some quality time and good conversation.
